Jenn Asks: Where have you travelled to in the past year? :D

As mentioned in my 2014 Resolutions post, one of the things that I wish to achieve this year is to go to somewhere totally new! :) It's been coming to 6 years since the husband and I has explored a new country together, so now is the time to remedy that now!

The husband and I are in the midst of planning our next vacation... so we need some input and ideas! Sadly, Europe and the US are out of our budgets for now, so we're looking at travelling within Asia! We're practically deliberating over Indonesia, Philippines or Cambodia for now, so if you have any traveled to any of these three countries (or even others within Asia), please do share in the comments below!! :D

So over to you! Where have you travelled in the past year? And also, where would you recommend travelling to Asia? :D

  1. Philippines specifically in Boracay Island or Palawan. Its like Paradise! And everything is soo cheap in there. Filipinos were also the nicest and most hospitable ive ever met and ive been to many countries. Would love to go back..

    1. The husband is fighting for Taiwan!! We been wanting to go la so can consider also!! I wanna go see Alishan, Yushan and eat Oyster noodle! Lol! And of course, stock up on L'Herboflore masks!! :D Flight tickets are crazy though - they're the same as flying to Tokyo -___-

I also wanna go Bali!! But if i'm going, I'll most likely go in August during Mola Mola season - I wanna see at least one of those!! They're too cute! :D

So now the list is narrowed down to - Malapascua (most likely - waiting for quotation now), Taipei or Tokyo. Or Siem Riep / Phnom Penh, Chiang Mai / Chiang Rai or Kakaban!!

So many destinations, so little money T_T

  3. huh? when you plan to go TW? if you want to do massive shopping, 2 periods to go, May and Oct/ Nov. They normally have the Mother's Day sale in May, and year end it's the malls anniversary sale. And really, be prepared to go mad! I really mean it. :P Things gets quite cheap when it goes on sale and they are quite generous with samples/ freebies.

Alishan should go during the cherry blossom period, which is around now or in Feb. Prettiness maximus! Hahahaha. Shop in Taipei, forget the malls unless got good buys/ anniversary sales, or brands you just have no access elsewhere other than the malls. Hit the night market, I love Shi Da for the various little shops around the alleyway and lotsa good eats! And don't forget those underground walkway when you commute via MRT there, you can do shopping there also! I normally buy my shoes around Taipei station underground walkway, very cheap la around NT200, which is around RM20 or so. Don't bother with Ximending as I find them to be rather marked up for the same pair of shoes I saw earlier in night market. Only buy in Ximending if you are tired of walking around ady, or simply give up looking for the same pair but cheaper price. Hahahaha.

If you are in TP, getting around via MRT is really easy as major locations have access to it. Otherwise buses and taxis are ok too. Taxis are not that expensive, and the drivers are nice and polite. At least the ones I encounter la.

Flight tickets are generally more exp during year end, so... plan in advance. I never find that flying to TP as expensive as Tokyo though...

Very long hor my comment, but I thought i'd let you know! :P

  4. depending on which time you are going, sakura blooming period varies between each area... and it's quite dependent on the weather too! Mask there are relatively cheap la, especially when got sales, try out their local MIT mask, some really not bad!

I wanna go to Japan for the hanami session too! But so expensive and requires so much research before hand, that I think i go nearby like Taiwan for it lah :P
