Saturdays are for Sharing - July Edition! :D

It's the end of the beginning of the 1st month of the 2nd half of the year already! Haha, hope i didn't confuse you there! :D Where did the days go already?? Time truly waits for no man!!

I finally decided its high time to do a little cleanup from my stash and am surprised at the amount of junk i had:


A huge plastic bag of empty bottles, jars and makeup that went rancid already!

It's a good feeling throwing these away! Finally i can make room for more my cupboard looks tidier now! :P

Texture & Scent:


This body lotion is quite fluid, so it spreads easily unto your skin! It absorbs in quickly too! This smells exactly like the Bath Milk from this range, which i really love! :D

Packaging:


This lotion comes in a plastic bottle with a flip top cap. I bought the smallest one for travelling, and travel well it does! :D

This lotion comes in 3 sizes - the 100ml which i bought, the 200ml one, and the huge 500ml pump bottle.

Price & Availability:
This body lotion is priced at RM5.90 for the smallest 100ml one, which is really affordable! :D The 200ml and 500ml ones go for RM10.50 and RM18.90 respectively. This should be available at most supermarkets and pharmacies! :)


My $0.02:

This is one of my favourite body lotions!! Cheap, easily available, moisturizes well, and a wonderful comforting scent, whats not to love about it?? :D Like most beauty addicts i do stray away and try other lotions, but i always come back to this one!! Yes, i like it that much!! :D

Masking 101

Reader ilif requested for a post on what is the difference between different mask types available in the market so here it goes! There are tons out there - sheet masks, wash off masks, sleeping masks, scrub masks, clay masks, etc! So here's my humble explanation on how are they different from each other! :D

Lets start with my favourite - Sheet Masks! :D



These usually come in a foil pack and may be sold individually or in a box. Its basically a thin cotton sheet infused with a generous dose of essence / serum to give your skin a quick boost. The possibilities are endless with these masks - you can benefit from whitening, moisturizing, oil controlling, brightening, toning, firming, anti-ageing and whatever-ing by using them, so do find one that is suitable for your skin type. I love stashing them in the fridge prior to using them for an ultra relaxing treat! :D Price wise, these can be as cheap as RM3 per piece and can go up to costing hundreds for a box of 5, so it fits every budget too!! :D

My personal favourite? There're several that i really like, but the Neutrogena Deep Hydrating Mask is a staple for me! :D


Clay Masks



These usually comes in a squeeze tube and sometimes they come in a tub. This mask comes out fairly thick (just like clay), and dries into a crusty layer on your skin (much like plaster, lol!)! :D This is excellent for deep cleansing, but it can be drying for drier skin types. I personally love using this as a spot acne treatment! :) BTW, from those that i've used so far, these masks usually don't smell very pleasant! Hahaha!! :P

My personal favourite? The Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask.


Scrub Masks



These masks contain scrubby bits in them and usually don't dry off totally. You smooth them into your skin, wait till time is up then add some water and gently scrub your face with the scrubby bits then wash off. These are great for brightening and sloughing off dead skin cells!

My personal favourite? I can't decide between the Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque or the The Body Shop Honey & Oat 3-in-1 Scrub Mask! :D


Wash Off Masks



The texture of these masks usually feels like a moisturizer / cream and can go on clear like you see in the pic above, but you do need to wash them off. These masks usually have a specific purpose - like to moisturize, clarify etc.

I admit that i havent tried out a ton of these masks. Do check out my one and only wash off mask review on the Thalgo Moisture Quenching Mask :P


Sleeping Masks



Ok i cheated! I don't have a pic of my face slathered with a sleeping mask so that pic will do! lol!! These masks are basically creams / serums packed with essence that renews the skin (usually la). What you do is you apply a generous amount on your face, go to bed, then wake up with a beautifully glowing face! Its perfect for lazy people like me! :D

Again, i've yet to try out many of these masks, but i really really liked the H20+ Face Oasis Hydrating Treatment!


DIY Masks


I guess the Mad Scientist look doesn't really suit me... XD


Whether you're born experimental or just plain paranoid about using too many chemical products on your face, this is a wonderful option for those of you who have extra time at home. Most DIY Masks consist of natural ingredients so you can be sure that you're getting the good stuff. I do recommend this to only those who knows exactly what your skin type is like and what is it allergic to. Always do a patch test too before slathing this all over your face!

There're plenty of recipes out there to try out, but my absolute favourite is the Aspirin Mask.

This hand cream glides unto your skin smoothly, and it sinks in really quickly which is great!! :D This doesn't really smell like the sea, but it smells really nice!! haha!! :D

Packaging:


The one pictured above is the travel size (25ml). Its almost the same as the full sized tube - it comes in a metal tube with a screw off cap. I don't really recommend keeping this in your handbag though, because your keys or other sharp object might actually puncture the tube and make a big (but aromatic) mess in your bag! lol!

Time Test:
This hand cream sinks in really quickly, and i find that applying twice a day is enough to keep my hands in good shape! :D

Price & Availability:
This hand cream goes for RM75 for 3 travel sized tubes. If you want to purchase a full sized tube, there're two sizes available - a 100ml one and a 250ml one. They go for RM73 and RM145 each respectively. This should be available at all Crabtree & Evelyn stores! :)

Usage:
I keep this in my desk drawer at work - the wonderful scent cheers me up when i'm having a lousy day! lol!! :D


My $0.02:

This was a gift my husband got from his counterpart, so automatically it became mine!! Wahaha!! :D

Like the Rosewater one, this one does what it promises - moisturizes, soothes and conditions!! :D The scent is wonderful too!! I wish they would release a home fragrance of the same kind - i would love to come home to this amazing scent!! Hehehe!! :D

There's nothing that i dont like about this hand cream, and i would certainly repurchase it... when i finally figure out which one (this or the Rosewater one) i would repurchase first!! hehehe!! :D

MAC In the Groove Collection Review + Swatches

This much talked about collection brings back the highly sought after Stereo Rose MSF which was released in 2005 and reportedly sold for obscene amounts of moolah on ebay! Naturally, i HAD to check this one out. I will give you my $0.02 on how this compares to the original, but first, lets take a look at the swatches for the other stuff in this collection! :D

Mineralize Eyeshadows Trios (US$19.50 / RM80):







As you can see from the pictures above and descriptions below, only the middle colors are frosty. The shimmers for the first and last colours are somewhat muted, but enough to keep them from being blah and flat. All 9 shadows have a really wonderful smooth texture too!! :D

Call My Bluff -Midtone creamy coffee.

All Styled Up -Bright yellow pink.

Creme d 'Nude - Pale muted peach beige. This is a beautiful nude color! This is permenant so you can take your time to get this one! :D

Go For It - Midtone blue purple.

Cremesheen Glasses (US$18 / RM80):



I personally adore cremesheen glasses because of their wonderful texture and the fact that they're not that sticky compared to the MAC lipglasses.

Fashion Whim -Light beige.

On the Scene -Light coral beige.

You’ve Got It -Dirty silver grey. This color definitely looks more brown than grey! :P

Going Casual -Sheer lilac.

Right Image -Midtone blue pink.

Chillin' - Light white blue.

Mineralize Blushes (Duo) (US$23 / RM100):



I'm happy to report that these blushes are overly shimmery, and all have beautiful buttery smooth textures! The price for this blush is raised yet again to RM100 this year (was RM95 last year)!! Some of you may argue that you're actually getting 3 colors per pot so its ok, but since the shades they release this time around are not terribly unique, i honestly cannot recommend this to anybody! :(

Hang Loose - Satin bright pink / Pearly lavender

Last but not least, the Mineralize Skinfinishes (US$28 / RM115):



All 4 MSFs this round are repromotes. I'm never into this product previous because they're known to be gritty discoballs, but i'll have to admit that MAC has come a long way since those days. These MSFs are really smooth now!! And no thanks to Paris and Syen I'm itching to get my first MSF!! T_T

By Candlelight - Golden pink.

Petticoat - Pale rose with gold and amber veining. The tester i swatched has quite abit of Rose veinings in it, so it is so much more darker here. Do pick one with less dark veinings if you would like a lighter blush! :D

Stereo Rose - Coral with golden/bronze shimmering nuances.

Comfort - Golden bronze

Ok, i said i will be giving my 2 cents worth on how this Stereo Rose MSF compares to the original one, so here it is now. From memory, the original Stereo Rose is grittier in texture and rosier in color. This new one is more peachy, but the texture is far superior! HTHs those who're wondering about this product! :D


So what did i get from this collection? Nothing! Ok, nothing so far, cuz its not launched here yet! T_T I did manage to get the Well Prepared kit! :D



The main reason i got this set is because i covet the mini Cleanse Off Oil and Fix+ bottles! They're perfect for travelling, plus they look totally adorable too!! Hehehe!! :D I'm selling the Prep + prime skin and powder (unboxed as you can see, but 100% brand new off the set) at RM20 off retail each at RM80 and RM70 respectively, so give me a hola if you want to buy k! :D

I'm personally using this one (will try to get the review up soon) and i love it! It's just another loose powder with a fancy name, but this does gives a lovely "soft focus" look! :D

This shower gel is quite runny, so be careful not to squeeze the bottle too hard! :D This foams up quite well when it comes in contact with water:



This has an amazing scent - not really your traditional rose scent, but it leans more towards a fresh, greeny scent if you get what i mean! I really like it! :D

This shower gel comes in a plastic squeeze bottle with a flip top cap. I like that you can detach the cap, so it means that the bottle can be reused again!! :)

My $0.02:

Some of you may know that i'm a HUGE fan of this scent! However, i can never bring myself to fork out 30 bucks for one shower gel that i'm gonna use up in a month!

Enters the Bodyshop sale! This was going at 50% off!! I got so excited that i stocked up quite abit on these babies!! Haha!! :D

This smells as amazing when used and in the bottle!! This not straight up your traditional rose - its very much fresher, yet there is a hint of flowery sweetness in it to keep it feminine and romantic! I love it!! :D The scent lasts awhile too after showering!! :D

I also love how this doesn't dry out the skin with daily use as with some of the other shower gels from this brand!

The only thing i didn't like about this product? The price! Seeing how quickly i go through the bottle within a month, it really adds up when you think of the amount spent on a yearly basis!! Ouch!

So to sum it up, i'm totally loving the product but absolutely loathing the price! I'll stock up when it goes on sale, but i have a horrible suspicion that it's gonna get discontinued soon!! :(
