Actual Product Pic:

Color & Pigmentation:

It appears as a creamy beigey color, but it goes on really clear! :D

And true to its claim, this base does make colors pop!

See how much more vibrant this shadow is with this base? :D

Texture & Scent:
Though the website says that this is full of silicone, once it dries you can hardly feel it on your skin!! It has a very mild plasticky smell if you take a whiff straight out of the container, but it has virtually no smell once you apply it! :D

Packaging:

This eye base comes in a lipgloss like tube shaped like an exotic vial! While it looks pretty, i share the sentiments of most people - there's going be ALOT of product wastage since the wand cannot reach to certain places! Check out this amazing discovery by Brittany of Clumps of Mascara - you'll be shocked at how much product you're wasting if you threw it away when the wand doesn't pull out anymore product!!

The box it came in:

This base comes with a doe foot applicator just like a lipgloss:

The one i have is the old straight doe foot one. They've since came out with the bent wand version to overcome the wastage problem! That'll help a little i guess! :D

Time Test:
This made my shadows last 12 hours on me!! :D

Price & Availability:
This eye base is priced at US$17 and is available at places like Sephora, Ulta and Macy's as well as on their website. Sadly it's not available in Malaysia, but you can get it through Ryan from Sgdrugstore at lowyat.net. :)

Usage:
I apply this prior to applying my eyeshadows.

My $0.02:

Ahhh, the much raved about UDPP!! Of course, i JUMPED at the chance to own this! lol! :D Unfortunately this laid untouched in my makeup case for almost 5 months before i used it!!

And i could've kicked myself for not using this earlier!! It's everything i imagine an eyebase to be and more! It makes colors pop, and it makes them last the whole day!! I shan't talk so much here... i'll let the pictures speak for themselves later! :D

On to my gripes! The first thing i didn't like about this eyebase is the tube it came in!! Though it's pretty to look at, you waste ALOT of product if you don't cut it open!! Another thing that i didn't like (but doesn't have anything to do with this product's quality) is that once you apply your shadows, it's kinda hard to wipe it off with your fingers / a tissue if you made a mistake. This goes to show that this product really does make your shadows last, but for someone like me who still can't apply eyeshadow precisely at one go, it can be a problem!

The circled part is where i "overshot", but i just couldn't remove it no matter how hard i rub. And believe me you don't want to do that. I think i rubbed too hard, that the part turned kinda lumpy!! Yuck!!

Ok, enough talk already! Here's a bunch of photos for you to see:

This is freshly applied at 10.38am (FOTD here):

See the "overshot" part of the left? :(

This is 6 hours later:

OMG... i'm so excited!!! As you can see, the shadows on the left have faded / creased a little (especially at the outer corners), but the shadows on the left are still intact!! *hops around room*

And this is 12 hours later at 11.03pm:

Once again the side with the UDPP held up really well!! It's really amazing!! :D

Here's a little rub test to see how it holds up (rubbed really hard about 5x):

Though both have faded quite significantly, but the one with UDPP still have some left!! lol!! :D

And just for fun again, here's the water test!

Both shadows are still pretty intact! :D

Let's rub it a little in water and see:

It's still there!! :D

Now finally, let's bring on the soap!! haha!! :D

And if you're wondering how it compares to the Benefit F.Y.eye! that i reviewed sometime ago, here's my $0.02 on how they compare!

Let's start with the color. I personally prefer this base because it goes on totally nude, plus it makes colors pop! The F.Y.eye! on the other hand, mattifies your eyeshadow color a little!

I also prefer this over the F.Y.eye! when it comes to texture. This one blends out smoothly, unlike the Benefit one which requires a little work (and ALOT of patience) to smooth it out! lol!

In terms of lasting powder, i honestly think both are pretty decent actually, with this one being a little bit better. Enough talking, here're some pictures for your perusal:

This is freshly applied at 9:48am (FOTD here):

This is 6 hours later:

Both shadows are still pretty intact! If you scutinize, you can see that the colors on the right (F.Y.eye! side) have faded a teeeeeeny bit (really very very minimal), but the UDPP side is still perfect! :)

And this is 12 hours later:

Both sides are STILL pretty intact! Like the 6 hour mark, the Benefit did have very very minimal fading compared to this one, but both performed great! :D

Then let's talk about the rub test! lol! I rubbed them about 3x this time:

Both UDPP and F.Y.eye! holds up pretty well for this test, with the UDPP a little better than the Benefit one! :D

And lastly, the just-for-fun water test!! lol!! :D

After running water over them, all 3 shadows held up pretty well as usual!

Now let's rub them a little with water:

All 3 shadows have faded, but the UDPP held up the best, followed by the F.Y.eye! :D

And finally, let's bring on the soap! :D

As you can see from the picture, the UDPP held up the best!! haha!!

This is now officially my HG eye base! It's everything i wanted an eye base to be!! I'll keep on buying this for sure! :D

I do use UDPP sometimes and it does irritates my eyes a little. Must be the silicone bah...

  3. Girl, this is probably the most comprehensive review of the UDPP I've seen so far! Well done! :)

Personally, I don't really like the UDPP (yep, I'm part of the bare minority :P). I prefer Too Faced's Shadow Insurance as it's more matte for my super oily lids :P

  4. Best comparison review EVER~!! *claps* this is why I never bothered to review my UDPP lol! I know my review can't do it justice. hahaha. But you're right about how it's difficult to fix mistakes. the shadow kinda sticks on the base too much that I sometimes have difficulty blending as well. give it another month and I'll have to cut open my UDPP already since I use it so frequently.
